Excellent roast. Fresh, not overly roasted, yet dark enough to have personality! A bit of balanced acidity, along with a rich flavor that keeps developing as you linger with the cup of coffee.
We used to live in Chico, and our favorite coffee was from Cal Java. We now live in Colorado, and we were thrilled to see that we could order it online. The best roaster, fresh beans, and like great wine, the Italian roast is our favorite. Full bodied, rich and dark, with a roasted sweet finish. Yum!
It's my favorite coffee and I drink it black (in an espresso or Americano)... doesn't need anything added to it! The decaf version is also delicious and I often blend it with regular beans for a less caffeinated cup.
I received my shipment of French Roast coffee only to discover the beans were whole vs ground. I called the store on East Ave. to notify them of the mix-up. The associate I spoke with was very understanding and assured me a replacement order would be mailed out immediatly with ground beans. The shipment arrived the next day! Great customer service!! Kudos to the CalJava associate who made this happen.
The Brooke Trout I got was roasted to a nice light roast. Tastes great and am considering a subscription.

I reordered the vanilla nut flavor as it was sooo good. I was a little sad that this batch didn’t have as much of the flavor as the previous batch I tasted, but it was still delicious either way! I will be ordering it again.

Woooow this bad boy is dark and taste amazing! Perfect morning coffee. I drink with cream and no sugar. I also made an ice coffee with it that tasted so smooth!
The Ethiopian blend is incredibly rich. It tasted a little chocolatey to me and was so strong that I used much less bean than with my previous brews. I want to try the other coffees, but this will definitely stay on my list of favorites.
