Coffee Background:
Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer, and its coffee lots often come from large estates that employ highly mechanized processing techniques to handle the vasat quantities of coffee produced. One of the most famous Brazilian coffee-growing regions is Mogiana, situated across Sao Pauilo and Minas Gerais. The area's rolling hills and uneven landscape give rise to small to medium-sized farms. This specific lot originates from Cooperativa Regional de Cafeicultores em Guaxupe (Cooxupe), a cooperative founded in 1937 with 14,000 active members. Each member typically manages farms averaging 60 acres in size. The coffee cherries are cultivated and harvested by individual producers, who then dry them on patios until they reach 15 percent moisture. The final drying process to achieve 11 percent moisture is done using mechanical driers. The coffee is stored meticulously until it is ready for milling and export, all of which is done at the Cooxupe dry mill. This facility ensures traceability and quality control, allowing each producer to be compensated based on the quality of their coffee. The current offering is classified as Fine Cup (FC) and Strictly Soft (SS), the highest cup quality category in Brazilian coffee grading.
